Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffered a "heartbreaking" knee injury as the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 to the Heat.

Jokic injured himself towards the end of the second quarter in an accidental contact with fellow Nugget Jones.

The other player landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he instantly fell to the court holding his knee.

The veteran player, that leads the league this season in boards and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game before suffering the problem.

He will have an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.

"Instantly, he understood there was a problem," stated Denver head coach David Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever that suffers an injury, that's tough to see, especially a player as talented as him. More information will come on Tuesday."

"We will continue as a team. Clearly, right now, I am more worried just about Jokic as a person and the frustration of facing a situation of that nature."
