The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The influential video game developer died after his automobile collided and caught fire on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, his family, and everyone impacted by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
