Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak was ended by Sunderland before the global break, however will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
A family member told me to get Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
